COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) is for those who would like to start their career in the financial sector. This qualification is suitable for those who would like to work as a mortgage adviser and wish to achieve a ‘license to practice’. This qualification meets all the requirements and the educational standard set by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC). The CeMAP is also considered as the benchmark exam for the mortgage advice industry. This ensures that the students get complete insight knowledge from the content provided that they require to fulfil their future career and regulatory requirements. Candidates need to successfully complete all three mandatory units in order to achieve this certificate.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this qualification is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge required in the financial industry and to successfully fulfil the duty of a mortgage adviser. For those who already in the financial sector and working as a mortgage adviser, it will help them to confirm competence. This course allows learners to develop skills in a range of areas relevant to mortgage advice and practice. Moreover it helps learners to develop the skills and qualities valued in employees by employers and make them understand and work on their strengths and weaknesses as a financial and mortgage adviser. This course will also provide learners with the necessary knowledge and skills in order to carry out their roles in an effective an efficient manner.

LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION: Level 3 (QCF)

DURATION: CeMAP 1 (5 days training), CeMAP 2 & 3 (5 days training). At Saxon Academy of Learning we also provide distance learning as per the flexibility of the students. This also includes training over the phone and Skype without compromising the quality of the delivery of the course.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: There is no entry requirement for this course and anyone who is wishing to change career or move into employment or are already in a financial sector as a mortgage adviser can take this course.

What is CeMAP?

CeMAP courses offered by Institute of Financial Services. Those who would like to work in Banks and Insurance companies or Financial Adviser firms need to complete these qualifications because of FCA regulations.

Can I get a job without these qualifications?

FSA regulation requirements are that those who are in Advisory role must have to complete these qualifications before they give any advice.

Who will issue the certificate?

Institute of Financial Services (IFS) will be the awarding body.

How many papers are there in CeMAP?

There are three papers CeMAP 1 CeMAP 2 CeMAP 3.

How many study hours are required?

Normally, 40 to 60 hours are recommended for each paper which includes Guided Learning Hours (GLH) and Self-guided Learning Hours (SLH).

From where I will get the study material?

When you register yourself with Institute of Financial Services and pay the exam fees you will get the book from them.

What are the exam fees?

For each paper the exam fees is £150. Please note Tuition fees are separate.

This qualification will influence your life and people near you as you will have more in-depth knowledge of how financial products work and what are their implications, you will be able to deal with your personal finance matters in more effective way.

How the course will be delivered?

This will be an interactive course, brain storming sessions, group discussions, exercises, mock papers, case studies, role play are the methods used by the Trainer. The students have to absorb a lot during the course. Trainer will deliver lecture and will ask questions to make sure you are absorbing information. Each day one topics will be covered and you are allowed to ask one thousand questions. Support through email and phone/Skype is also available. You will be given some homework to complete the learning process.

What are the course timings?

We do five days fast track course for CeMAP 1, 5 days for CeMAP 2 & 3 (10 AM- 4 PM). There are provisions for weekend and evening classes. Distance learning is also available. Weekend classes, evening classes and distance learning timings are based on the flexibility of the student and the trainer.

What is the tuition fee of these courses (CeMAP & CeFA)?

CeMAP – Option 1: Student will pay £750 for a full course fees or you can pay £400 for CeMAP 1 £300 for CeMAP 2, and £200 for CeMAP 3.

Option 2 (Distance Learning) : Student will pay £550 for a full course fees or you can pay £300 for CeMAP 1, £250 for CeMAP 2 and £150 for CeMAP 3.

What is the structure of the test?

CeMAP 1

Unit 1 – Introduction to Financial Services Environment and Products (ITFS)

Unit 2 – UK Financial Services and Regulation (UKFS)

ITFS and UKFS each comprise a one hour objectively tested examinations with 50 multiple choice questions.

CeMAP 2

Unit 3 – Mortgage Law, Policy, Practice and Markets (MLPP)

Unit 4 – Mortgage Applications (MAPP)

Unit 5 – Mortgage Payment Methods and Products (MPMP)

Unit 6 – Mortgage Arrears and Post Completion Issues (MAPC)

MLPP, MAPP, MPMP and MAPC each comprise a 30 minute objective test with 25 multiple choice questions.

CeMAP 3

Unit 7 – Assessment of Mortgage Advice and Knowledge (ASSM)

Assessments comprises a 2 hour objective test with 6 case studies each with 10 multiple choice questions.

How can I book my test?

You can book your tests in over 150 Pearson VUE test centres across the country with the results provided on the same day.

If I do not pass and need to attend the class again do I have to pay fees again?

We are confident that you will pass and if you don’t then you are allowed to sit again in the class for free, subject to availability of space.

Who is your trainer, can we see his profile?

Munawar Ahmad Malik is a CeMAP Trainer (Mortgages & Protection). He has CeMAP qualification from Institute of Financial Services UK. He holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics. He conducts CeMAP courses from top three training companies in London. He is a mortgage advisor with A-1 Mortgage Advice Centre.

He started his career with State Life Insurance which is one of the largest life Insurance organizations in Southeast Asia. He gained promotion to sales officer, sales manager eventually progressing to area manager. He achieved gold medal, recruitment trophy and various other awards.

He has successfully conducted more than a hundred sessions for CeMAP courses from 2007-2014 lecturing to over two thousand students. He specializes in interactive class room training, one-to-one sessions, and supports his students using Skype, email and telephone.

When teaching students his approach is to use presentations, group discussions, brain storming sessions, role plays, individual exercises, question answer sessions, case studies and finally working on mock papers. He has also taken time to complete PTLLS-Qualification to enhance his teaching style and techniques.
